    The Start of Things

Lucas started school in 2015. I really wanted him to know that as a family, character was the most important thing we are all learning. To be a good friend. To be a kind human. So we got out a sharpie & wrote out why prep would go well for him. We wrote 'I will rock prep because I am kind and brave and full of light'. Learning new things takes guts. We will always celebrate guts!

    an empty garage

today has been such fun. the website is not coping with the garage sale. turns out our domain provider is having a bad day. my words. still not a single grumpy email. i would understand if we got some, it's a frustrating process trying to place your order ten times & each time as you go to pay, it disappears. i'm thankful for the kindness & the perseverance !

    T H A N K  Y O U

thank you for supporting a little aussie business. we've been making since 2004 & the last year has been a struggle with the economy as it is. some days it kinda felt like we were about to let go of the rope. but the joy was still there. no money & joy makes things better. so the support we feel from you all has lifted us up. we'd be delighted if you told your friends about the garage sale (which has now been extended to the 7th of June). it would be a dream come true to have an empty garage. all ready for our new designs coming August 13.

    thanks again for your support,

    a creative life

I saw this quote from Brendon Berchard on Bonnie Tsang's instagram & it resonated deeply, so here it is..."I like to remind people that creativity also isn't a spark; it's a slog.

Every artist, inventor, designer, writer or other creative in the world will talk about his work being an iterative experience. He'll start with one idea, shape it, move it, combine it, break it, begin anew, discover something within himself, see a new vision, go at it again, test it, share it, fix it,break it, hone it, hone it, hone it. This might sound like common sense, but it's not common practice, and that's why so many people are terribly uncreative- they're not willing to do the work required to create something that's beautiful, useful, desirable, celebrated. No masterpiece was shaped or written in a day. It's a long slog to get something right. This knowledge and willingness to iterate is what makes the world's most creative people so creative"

I read this a few days later

"Creativity is not neat. It is not orderly. When we are being creative we don't know what is going to happen next. When we are being creative a great deal of what we do is wrong. An artist makes attempt after attempt at the canvas trying for the right perspective & missing badly, almost getting the right shade but not making it. Lovers quarrel, hurt & get hurt, misunderstand & are misunderstood in their painstaking work of creating marriage. In any creative enterprise there are risks & mistakes, but out of the mess- when we stay with it long enough, enter it deeply enough- there slowly emerges love or beauty or peace". (Eugene Peterson.)

We should all be living a creative life, after all, the world is a playground. No more fear, fear of failure, fear of not being liked, fear of disappointment. Fear robs us & belittles us into stable, orderly, safe creatures. When I know, we were made for dreaming.
